Nil
vs Miss Tracy
a side: In The Darkness [listen]
b side: Perverted [listen]
|
The
third outing from Australian rising stars Nil and Tracy
sees them refine their sound into a more mature hard
trance ethic. Featuring a dark vocal from Lord Of The
Rings in The Darkness is an accomplished slab of up-tempo
dark trance with loads of detail in the ambient sounds
whooshing over the solid tight groove. Simon Eve
has been raving about this.
The
B side , perverted which is being caned by Nick Sentience
off an early CD, plows a more straightforward furrow,
with the same hard edge and no nonsense approach.

The Kickstar
"Kickstar"
|
its not called
Kickstar for nothing - hear that bass drum! Two
mixes to choose from, both blisteringly stomping.
(it was originally
called "bombshell" but what with the international
situation as it was winter 2001, we didn't want to upset
the more sensitive souls out there...)

"Terra
Australis/Spatial Blur" NIL vs. Miss Tracy (Spin
City)
After
the worldwide sell out of their debut release, "Millenium
Fight 2001 EP", NIL vs. Miss Tracy return with
some more chunky tunes sure to follow suit. Fans of
the style of hard trance pioneered by Commander Tom
will appreciate side a, "Terra Australis",
with hoovers reminiscent of his work but in a clubbier,
hard house style. Side b boasts "Spatial Blur",
a classic upbeat trance/NRG tune with a tuff little
vocal, grinding away at about 150 bpm. While minimal
hoovers complement the occasional upfront beats and
vocals quite nicely, the spooky synth is saved for the
breakdowns, paving the way for an epic build up and
climax - this track is good!

This
first release features Nil V's Miss Tracy a new production
pair from Australia's hard house centre: Brisbane. Nil
is the Queensland copper you have already probably heard
of from the recent Lectrolux track, where he added the
"the house is surrounded" vocal and provided
the funky Superfluid remix.
Miss
Tracy is a fierce gorgeous young dj who has been honing
her skills at the huge Adventjah Raves in Brisbane and
is now what is known as an 'interstate' DJ, playing
across Australia.
This
debut EP features four brilliant pumping tracks each
as good as the others. Our favourite is Full Reset (a1)
which adds Nil's pitched up rap "DJ Miss T. R.
A. C. Y." to the pounding beats and squelching
synths, but each track is as strong as the others, please
let us know which is yours.
