"Don't
bother it's too hard and you won't be able to do it"
-
a Quote from 'Most
of my friends' 1999
As
cliched as it sounds, I knew I wanted to be a DJ from
the tender age of 15 when I was an underage nightclub
turntablist, although being in a small country town
meant I was more likely to play Richard Marx than Jack
to the Sound of the Underground. I knew I wanted more
out of life and, moth-like, flittered pennilessly to
the bright lights of Brisbane in 1990.
Once
there, the much maligned Valley and the BEAT beckoned
and a journey into the world of clubbing we all know
and love so well began in earnest. DJ Edwin was the
kindest of teachers who gladly introduced me to the
finer points of mixing and Dj-ing in general and so
a cycle of party-party-practice trundled through until
1996 when I got a job at Central Station where most
of my hard earned income went into the endless abyss
that is vinyl.
Dj
THIEF and Jason from the Adventjah Team gave me my first
gigs at System 6 and PEACE in 1998 and i've started
from the bottom, learning and growing into the residency
I have for both today. I'd always imagined writing tunes
knowing that I had an ear for it but lacked a starting
point until I met NIL in late 1999 (the ever so handsome
and good smelling Nil thanks! - Nil).
2000
was my busiest year yet, finishing a Sytem 6 tour of
Melbourne (Vic) and Adelaide (SA) with the Hard Kandy
crew, a live set with Nil at Adventjah 2000 and Circus
-X 2001and a swift sojourn to Darwin (NT) (damn this
country is BIG) and i'm genuinely excited about 2001
which, can only get bigger and better.
It's
taken 12 months, a lot of patience and an iron-resolved
ignorance of everyones negativity to sit on the grassy
knoll of releasedom and I can only offer hugs and kisses
to John and Rachael for their faith and patience which
I hope to repay in full.
"This
is not over yet..."
Lots
of love, Miss Tracy XXX
