There were times when the music on Phoenix Uprising blurred the edges with Boscabeats, but with the added input of my recording partner, Shane Morris, it’s now definitely 100% hard-edged hard-house with a commercially viable slant.

It was blatant, in-yer-face club music, utilising old samples as a knee jerk reaction against the snobby attitudes that we all come up against. Luckily I had the luxury of creating different styles of music with my other labels, so with Phoenix we knew we were bordering on the mainstream, but that’s cool, so we gave the people what they wanted!

They say smoking marijuana leads to harder drugs, and in the same way, once the mainstream people have got interested in Phoenix Uprising, they were soon exposed to the other stuff we do.
