Magnetic North was born in Winter 1992, the brainchild of Dave Clarke and girlfriend Laura-Jane.

They initially approached John Truelove who provided the infrastructure and advice and brought Steve Simmonds in to run the label. Steve soon became the lynchpin around whom the fervour and madness of these three individuals could coalesce. As a result of this combination MN quickly became the most respected name in the British Techno scene and provided an answer to the techno that had come out of Detroit and spread like wildfire across northern Europe, being championed by Kris Needs and John Peel and Andy Weatherall...
