Kingpin
Being on the receiving end of a load of top demos, Paul
from K-Klass set up kingpin last year as a suitable outlet - tasteful,
excellent production, inventive, not too anal, not too cheesy.
The artists Soundscapers, and CJD Project made up the North
West contingent, with Lil Devious, Jim the Happy Human and
several other Northerners quickly following up the rear. In
the spirit of European unity, we even signed a couple of tracks
from some Belgians, but basically any crazy-fucked-up-house-obsessive-is-welcome
at kingpin.
In September, we release the first of the 'prohibition series',
an album compiled and mixed by Paul and Russ from k-klass.
As well as the kingpin stuff ( tomorrows stars today ) - prohibition
also includes tracks by some of Pauls favorite DJs, producers
and labels, and is mixed by himself and DJ partner Russ. We wanted
prohibition to show how fucking brilliant house music
is at the moment, back in the charts where it rightly belongs, still
as fresh as ever, always changing, always underground, always brilliant,
always has been.
