ONE RECORDINGS - VOLUME ONE
D1 RECORDINGS celebrated their first birthday
by launching "DUBLIN ONE RECORDINGS - VOLUME ONE" -
a cd compilation which collects together the finest moments of
the various techno collaborations that have been taking place
in their studio in Dublin.
MARK BROOM and ROB ROWLAND join forces under
the pseudonym "VISITOR". Their track "ROUND AND
ROUND" is a pure and minimal soundclash for underground dancefloors
everywhere.
Rob
Rowland crops up under various guises and covers all the bases
from funky house to dancefloor techno. "LETTIN ON" is
a pure slab of sparse Dublin techno interspersed with funky riffs
and effects. It is currently lending weight to the sets of Claude
Young, Mark Broom, David Homes and Dave Angel. Elsewhere Rob veers
in a slightly different direction with BOMBJACK. Here he opts
for a richer fusion of tough house and funky techno.
DONNACHA COSTELLO offers two numbers of warm
space techno jazz "REAL MINIMAL" and "GOSHDARNIT"
both of which feature on D1’s latest release along with MARK
BROOM’S rewiring of the title track.
DJ FRANCOIS adopts the "BETA TEST"
moniker for an ode to the dynamics of his club - ALIEN suitably
titled "BANG THE CLUB", it does just that. "AS
YOU WERE" by newcomers DECLAN CANNING AND LITLLEBOYLOST heads
into sensuous house phunk territory.
The album closes with BOMBJACK’s "TOP
PIXEL ACTION", which cruises nicely between musicality and
uptempo motion to round off a superb Irish offering.
